With Built-in Microban Antimicrobial Product Protection

Cosentino, the largest producer and distributor of natural quartz surfacing in the world, launches a new era in countertop performance by introducing Silestone with built-in Microban antimicrobial product protection.

Silestone is the first and only natural quartz surfacing engineered with Microban antimicrobial protection which provides a proven deterrent to the growth of bacteria that can cause stains, odors and product deterioration. Microban technology is not designed to protect users against foodborne illness or replace the need for good hygiene. However, under the right conditions, such those frequently found in kitchens and bathroom microbes can double in number every 20 minutes on an untreated surface. Microban protection works continuously between cleanings to keep Silestone kitchen countertops and bathroom vanity surfaces cleaner. And unlike surface applied coatings, Silestone incorporates Microban protection into the molecular structure of the product during the manufacturing process so it won’t wash off or wear for continuous protection that lasts the life of the product. Silestone will begin rolling out colors with Microban protection in summer 2005.
